December 28, 2013 - Breakfast at Chester County

The weather was awesome for flying on this late December day.  A bunch of Essex Skypark and Clearview Airport pilots took advantage and headed about 50 nautical miles NNE to Coatesville, Pennsylvania where the Flying Machine Cafe is located at Chester County Airport (KMQS).  Bruce B. was flying with me in the RV-7.

This building contains the Chester Co. FBO and Flying Machine Cafe.

A lot of jets fly into this airport.  I guess they like the long 5,400 foot runway.

My trusty RV-7 lined up next to hangar neighbor Tom K.s Maule.  We had a lot of planes:  RV-7, Maule, Cherokee, Cessna 182, RV-8, Great Lakes Biplane, Decathelon.

After a nice restaurant, we prepared to depart.  That's Brian in his RV-8, Walt in the Great Lakes, and Chuck in the Decathelon.

Tom runs up the mighty Maule.

Brian runs up his RV-8 as the Great Lakes and Decathelon taxi up.

Walt's magnificent Great Lakes taxiis by.

We flew back to Essex Skypark in a gaggle of five.

The visibility was phenominal this day; you could see forever.

Bruce flew the plane while I took these pics.

It takes a tough pilot to fly an open cockpit airplane in December in Maryland!

Back at Essex Skypark, Bruce powers up his VW Van and tours the airport.

Bruce likes airplanes but his real dream was always to be a surfer dude.

Why didn't Bruce fly his RV-3 today?  Because it has no wings!   (He is restoring it)

The day was so nice, most of the Essex Skypark regulars were on hand, and just enjoying being at the airport and socializing.

Chip just had the radial engine on his Stearman overhauled.  It's practically a new engine.  Check out those snazzy orange valve covers!

"Double Trouble" sparkling in the winter sunlight.
